Venice!

The Rialto bridge, Grand Canal

Basking in the sun at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art (before the snowstorm!)

The pigeons in St. Marks square can be a little intimidating at first!

...but a lot of fun once you get the hang of it!

Our first traghetto ride (gondola ferry)

Easy to make friends if you have a soccer ball! The boys really enjoyed their soccer games with Italians (and French) boys that they met

An evening that stands out highlighting our trip was the Vivaldi concert by Interpreti Veneziani in a little church with *perfect* acoustics, right off Campo San Stefano.

Lodging:

The boys found the lofts of Foresteria Fondazione Levi an interesting space - its "modern" and a bit institutional, but the location right next to the Accademia Bridge (and their favorite soccer square) was great.

After awhile we tired of the noise and bustle of Venice at night, so retired to stay on Murano, at Locanda Conterie. Murano receives tourists by the boatload during the day, but sends them all home at night! We only found one other locanda on the island, and it was much smaller. Its very easy to hop into Venice by vaporetto anytime you want to.
